Kirk Sander

Chief of Staff

Kirk Sander became the Chief of Staff for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration in August 2014.

Mr. Sander comes to OSHA from the White House Office of Presidential Personnel where he had responsibility for managing the appointment process for senior level positions for domestic agencies in the federal government, including the Departments of Housing and Urban Development, Health and Human Services, Justice, and Labor.

Prior to joining the White House, Mr. Sander was special assistant to the director, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement at the Department of the Interior. In that position, he worked on a wide variety of issues regarding the oil and gas industry, emergency response, and continuity of operations.  He also worked at NASA where he advised the chief of staff and other top leadership on communications strategy, and managed the day-to-day operations of a high level presidential task force.

Mr. Sander has a Bachelor of Arts degree in environmental geoscience and a Master of Science degree in environmental science and policy.
